Finance Veterans John Conners and Robert Headley to Lead Live Forum on Effectively Managing the Hardest Job in Finance

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. —December 11, 2006 —  FiREapps, the leading provider of On-Demand Corporate Foreign Exchange Management, today announced a public webinar on Thursday, December 14, with over 200 corporations registered to participate in a discussion on Corporate Foreign Exchange Management. Scheduled to speak are an esteemed list of finance executives including John Connors, former CFO of Microsoft, Robert Headley, former VP of Finance and Treasury for Starbuck’s, Wolfgang Koester, CEO of FiREapps and Corey Edens, COO and VP of Product Management.

Unlike other areas of accounting and finance such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management, where colleges and universities have established curriculum and training courses, there is little structured education and training for foreign exchange managers. Instead, managers of foreign exchange must learn on the job, where the consequences of making mistakes can be severe.

This webinar is the second in a series of live on-line forums for finance executives and practitioners to share best practices, discuss trends in business and technology and provide a learning environment for treasurers, controllers, corporate tax managers, and foreign exchange managers. Topics discussed will include analyzing foreign-currency risks as featured in “New Currents in Currency” in CFO Magazine’s December issue.

“During my time as Chief Financial Officer at Microsoft, I always felt that the process of managing foreign exchange exposures and associated risk was more art than science and the hardest job in finance. With the advent of new on-demand technologies and emerging best practices related to foreign exchange, finance professionals can now apply the discipline and controls they are required to support throughout the rest of finance and accounting,” said Connors

“We are strong believers that corporations need to increase their sophistication and acumen for managing foreign exchange,” said Koester. “With access to education forums like this webinar series and www.fxbestpractices.com, corporate finance and accounting professionals will no longer need to operate in a vacuum with regards to applicable best practices for managing foreign exchange. It is not about to hedge or not to hedge anymore, it is about cost effective and compliant risk management.”
